This Privacy Policy describes how YT Desktop ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the YT Desktop application and the ytdesktop.com website.

YT Desktop Application

The YT Desktop app collects no personal data. We are committed to your privacy, and our application is designed with privacy as a core principle.

What the App Does NOT Collect

• No analytics or telemetry data
• No viewing history or watch habits
• No personal information
• No account credentials (you sign in directly to YouTube)

Network Connections

The YT Desktop app connects only to YouTube and Google domains to enable video playback and YouTube functionality. We do not operate any servers that receive data from the app.

Local Storage

The app stores minimal data locally on your device:

• Window position and size: Remembered so the app opens where you left it
• App preferences: Your settings for features like always-on-top

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Clipboard Access

The app can write to your clipboard when you use the "Copy URL" feature. This is write-only access initiated by your action—the app does not read your clipboard.

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. This helps us improve the website and user experience.

Analytics choices

Website usage analytics is on by default. You can turn it off at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer or the button below. We remember your choice in this browser using local storage and a preference cookie lasting up to one year. Earlier opt-outs remain respected, and the browser’s Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics off. Checkout and purchase access work when analytics is off. Analytics identifiers are pseudonymous; we do not send your email, name, billing address or card details to Google Analytics.

Free downloads and earlier purchases

Downloads are currently free in every country. When analytics is on, we separately record free-offer views and installer clicks using a pseudonymous browser identifier and approximate country. Free downloads do not create payment records or require checkout, and remain available when analytics is off. We honor your analytics preference and Global Privacy Control for this free-download measurement.

New purchases and price experiments are currently paused. We previously compared one-time prices, including different prices by country. Our hosting provider supplies an approximate country. An essential, secure browser cookie keeps your price assignment and purchase access together for up to 84 days. Clearing site data removes that browser’s access session; your receipt email provides another route to your purchase.

Our payment records include your assigned offer, country, price, currency, order and provider identifiers, successful payments, tax, refunds and delivery status. We record whether an offer was shown, checkout was created and an installer link was clicked. Optional feedback uses predefined feature and price choices. We do not record viewing activity from the desktop app.

When analytics is on and matching website identifiers are available, we also send offer, checkout, purchase, refund and installer-click events to our Google Analytics property. Turning analytics off stops future website analytics, removes this site's Google Analytics cookies and requests removal of queued analytics exports associated with this browser's purchases. It does not remove previously sent analytics or essential purchase records. A download event records an installer-link click, not a completed installation. Purchases remain recorded even when analytics is off or blocked. Our essential service records also include checkout and recovery steps, payment states and broad payment-method categories, installer-link access, and limited error categories to diagnose failed purchases. These records do not contain card numbers, UPI IDs, raw error messages or full browsing URLs.

Dodo Payments processes checkout, billing details, receipts and digital delivery. It collects the email, billing and payment information needed to process your purchase. We can access relevant customer and transaction details through Dodo for support, refunds and accounting; our website does not receive your full card details. Hosted checkout has its own provider privacy and tracking settings, including business analytics integrations; the website preference above controls analytics on ytdesktop.com.

We keep order and transaction records as needed to provide access, handle support and refunds, and meet accounting obligations. Contact us to request access to or deletion of your information; records required for those obligations may need to be retained. Do not include card numbers in support messages or feedback.

Third-Party Services

When using the YT Desktop app, you interact directly with YouTube/Google services. Your use of YouTube is subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
